In our society, is a very noticeable fact the extreme admiration caused by some celebrities. It seems as if we humans need to create worshipping objects. But as a consequence, this often leads to an "almost sickly" myths factory. For the same reason, it should not be surprising that in ancient times, men always exhultated their heroes and their feats. It is still happening nowadays, more than ever! An obvious example of this, is before our very eyes: the way many people follow their sports or artists idols´ performances. Besides, is clear the induction of this behavior, exerted by some interested groups, such as advertising agencies and even by politicians... they often make use of those kind of "living myths", as a tool to control the masses´ will.

Entre las tendencias más acentuadas en las sociedades modernas se halla la de engrandecer algunos acontecimientos; se trata de algo así como una necesidad de crear objetos de veneración, lo que a menudo lleva a la mitificación de hechos, o de personas. Por tal motivo, no debería resultar extraño el que en la antigüedad fuese una práctica común la exaltación de tantos personajes y sucesos. En épocas más recientes, y aun en la actualidad, esas costumbres se han mantenido, una clara muestra de ello se encuentra a la vista, es algo que ocurre a diario, en muchas disciplinas deportivas. Además, resulta notoria la inducción ejercida por ciertos sectores interesados: políticos y publicitarios, en la formación de tales mitos, a menudo con fines no muy loables, como son el control del pensamiento colectivo, especialmente.
